MMm kinda don't believe you don't have a tv, you watch loose women and this morning, got at least 1 dvd boxset and have seen the adverts for the census (historc posts give you away).
Buy a licence like the rest of us.

You can watch a DVD without having a TV connected to an aerial, and you can watch loose women on the ITV player & a valid licence isn't required for either of these two actions.

Isn't a license only required for watching live TV? Therefore you could watch episodes from previous weeks online...

    Could be wrong here though...

If you don't have a telly why bother avoiding the situation and just let them see for themselves.
They wont stop until you either buy one or prove you don't have a tv or anything that can pick up a tv signal.

I wouldn't, because I don't want someone snooping around my house who is just employed by Capita on commission in to my home.

If you take this route then you would not mind anyone entering just to check. Better still, why not let them stick a CCTV camera in your lounge just to make sure!

Why should someone have to prove they don't have a TV, and how do you prove a negative anyway?

Can you imagine the DVLA knocking on people's doors saying "you don't appear to have a driving licence, can you open up your garage to prove you don't have a car that you're driving illegally?"

The comparison isn't valid -it's not illegal to own a vehicle, and/or be the RK for a vehicle if you don't have a valid driving licence.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"

Nor is it illegal to own a television receiver without having a valid TV licence.
What is illegal is to use that TV to watch TV programs as they are being transmitted.

Anyway, LittleMissAspie didn't state it was illegal to own a car without having a licence. They stated that it was illegal to drive that car without a licence.

You know there's a way of sternly asking them to leave without the need to abuse or act verbally aggressive right?

yeah....but they're nowhere near as funny as the note suggested!

LOL! :P :P I'd withdraw the right to access my property so I don't have to avoid answering the door everytime but do I have to do this by letter? Does anybody know if I can do it by email?

Not a good idea, best way is no contact.
