Ipod integration into car

Anyone know how to economically connect an ipod into a Mercedes C Class? Dealer prices are expensive.

Depends on what you want to do. If the Ipod has a mini jack audio output then this can be connected to an aux input of the sound system. Depends on what sound system the car has. Most standard DIN mount units have an aux input on the back of them.

  • According to a Mercedes Forum C Classes from 2005 onwards have an aux cradle and there is a thread here detailing how they did it.

I however love the Dension Ice>link, OK not as cheap as the aux install but they sound superb and even if they don't do one for your specific head unit they have an FM model that plugs into your Head Unit FM Ariel and plays through the head unit (its not an FM Transmitter it has a physical connection to the head unit.) They range from about £70-£100 depending where you get them.

What about a cheap Fm transmitter? Load about nowadays.

Not a nice neat fix but cheap

I was just about to suggest it, now they've been made legal there's probably quite a few places promoting them so there may be some bargains.

These are OK if you can find a decent station. I do a lot of driving with work and couldn't find a station that covered the whole of England let alone UK.

In the end got sick of inteference and got the ICE>Link direct into my head unit. Well worth the money, and I got mine when it was £150, they are under £100 now.

But it's what suits you best, OP wants something cheap and easy so you could be right.
