Newbie! Question on claiming PPI

Hello, I wonder if someone could advise me, please?

I took out a 7 year loan in 2002 for £21k (ridiculous, I know..thankfully I'm a changed debt-free person now!). I was, and still am, working for the nhs at the time. I did not know that with working for the nhs i would receive the benefits I do (re sick pay etc) and would not have need PPI. Would I be entitled to put in a claim?

Thank you in advance x

  • There is not enough information here.

Somebody working at FOS has indicated elsewhere on MSE that the 6 months' full, six months' half pay offered by some employers would not, in itself, mean a complaint should be upheld.

In addition, if you did not know of the sick pay entitlement, how could whoever sold you the policy have taken it into consideration?

We also do not know if the sale was advised or not.

Then there is the question of the status of whoever sold it to you. Who was it?

and it is also quite certain that there was no redundancy cover provided.
  • Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, my email was not worded great!! The loan was with HSBC and I did not realise that having those benefits would mean I did not need PPI. I knew that I would get 6 month full and six month half pay if off sick and no voluntary redundancy. I can't remember the full telephone call but seem to recall the only monthly repayment quoted included PPI. I assumed it would be needed otherwise the loan would be refused.

A large part of me is thinking you know what, you were a bloody fool and got into trouble and if that is what you had to pay to get on your feet, then so be it.

    Thanks for your reply x
