Southern elec
Options
I joined southern elec about 18 months ago. Dont normally speak to door step sellers but had seen van about alot taking readings and was looking at lowering my bills. after about an hour I signed up with them.
the doorstep seller calculated my bills and said by leaving British gas and joining them I would save over £25 a month. which I thought was a bonus. But they also offered me the argos points saving card with 10% of. But the main thing was the offer of 10% of petrol card at morrisons this never arrived ! when I rang them it they said they knew nothing about the fuel saving card. I spend around £100 a month on petrol so would have been saving £10 a month. Thought never mind at least I would be saving on the elec.
did question the seller and explain I was on a debt mangement plan and did not want to end up in debt. said they come around and read meter regurlary. and i would like to continue paying what I was paying with british gas just to make sure I wasn't going to get in more debt. he assured me that the new payments would more than cover my usage. (which hasn't changed properly reduced).
also said the price was fixed. which changed after 6 months.
I have now moved suppliers as after 6 months all of a sudden owed them over £200 ended up with finally bill of £250.
I saw the article on here about them miss selling on the doorstep
so havnt paid them the final bill. and contacted them about the miss selling to me.
They have only offered me £37 is this expectable?
if I continued to pay the payments that I was paying british gas this would have been just over £250 what I payed southern over the 15 months I was with them.
+ I would have saved £150 on the petrol I used over the 15 moths I was with them. If I had recieved the petrol discount card.
what do I do next contact them or ombudsman?

With the argos tariff with SSE all you get is an argos card that you can use in argos or homebase. Ive never heard of the fuel card at morrisons... As for the compensation if you applied through their sales guarantee scheme, youve got a job proving that youve had a financial loss in moving from bgas to southern and unless youve got recorded proof he told you about the 25£ a month saving its going to be hard. Their sales guarantee is a voluntary scheme they set up a few mths ago, so if your not happy with the compo, you cant really complain to Ofgem for the level of it, because its not them thats running it. Nothing to stop you complaining direct to the ombudsman but its your word against the salesman (whos probably been sacked by now) and to get anywhere youd need proof. Good luck though0

You seem to be ignoring the fact that prices would have risen sharply over the 15m you were with them, regardless of supplier. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
