My computer doesn't have it
What OS is it?
Right-click on the taskbar, and then click Task Manager

Which version of Windows was the 1st version to have Task Manager, more specifically a Task Manager that displays memory resources in use?
Mine is the one before that.
Could someone please answer the question posed in #4
For the 4th time my computer does not have TM at least not one which displays memory usage.0 -
Yes, there's a difference.0

You must be using a really really old version of windows to not have task manager.
Windows 98 had a taskman.exe in the windows directory, but I do not think it had memory usage/resource usage on it.
Windows 98 should have sysmon though, have a search for that in the windows folders, that will show you usage stats.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
your work has disables task manager, or you had a virus/malware (had this a few years ago)
download and try the free 'process explorer' and it is better than tm too.
Minimizing a prog, takes the focus away from the prog, this makes the current one running (usually with the blue title bar) have a higher priorty.
also uses less graphics cpu time.0 -
I suspect that Wig won't be able to download the process explorer as suggested - either because it's prevented, or because it would be a breach of the computer usage policy.0

You may well see a difference, if there's a lot of flash ads/other adverts on the web page.
For example, I'm editing a video in pinnacle right now, and it's using 365mb RAM.
I minimise it and it goes to 250mb.
I guess because it's not animating anything or using any of the graphics resources.
Back when I was in the civil service, I remember that the computers even then (which were NEW allegedly) they barely worked, so the small gains you make will be pretty worthless.
As for upgrading, you can imagine the headlines. Rather than:
"Civil service upgrades computers so staff can work productively" they will say: "Government wastes millions upgrading computers so jobsworths can play on the internet."0
