Thanks again for your thoughts on this.

The incentive saver is closed now to new customers unfortunately. The vantage current account really does look like a good account for her as she does carry a humungous credit balance in her current account and earns nothing on it.

I have to get the savings side sorted first though. If she's still up to it once we've sorted that out I will see if I can start getting her to see the advantage of having a fee free current account that actually pays her for her custom. Now that really would be a success!

    Thanks again,
    Spigs

No need to wait with opening the Lloyds Vantage accounts (you can have 3 of them) - - just treat them like savings accounts. Your friend can stay put with her existing current account.

Also, look at the Halifax Reward accounts - - cycling £1K through it (the same £1K you use for the Vantage accounts) every month will pay a fiver a month. Not sure they still let you open two of these, but one's pretty good already, paying £60 a year for £1,000. Same as with the Vantage accounts - - no need to change her existing current account arrangements.

You mean the Lloyds account jamesd?
I was thinking of the First Direct one but it applies to anything involving a current account. Just pretend they are savings accounts or use the linked savings account and forget the current account part. No need to switch use of your current account just because you open a new one for some reason.
