I hope the OP isn't put off by the replies. MSE isn't the only place with decent comps and help ...and if you really think about it and use Faceook and/or twitter you'll probably find the lion's share of comps on there nowadays from comping mates. MSE is dire at the social networking stuff unfortunately.

I think the OP assumed that comps here come off other sites? People get them from emails, magazines and wherever and post them here with answers or to collaborate and find answers which is the fun part especially when one of the guys involved wins.

Mr LQ? This forum is part of the MSE site...I didn't understand most of your post TBH but this forum is a tiny section of a massive site and forum and this section may be as big or bigger than any UK comping site on it's own. It's open and has very little as far as rules except those to prevent harm to members. The things LQ does differently that I like are ending stuff...easy to find, and reports are sometimes worth reading although I've read some real tripe too written as if it were fact. lol

It's not a war OP. You can use any side and win with both. That's what we all aim for and enjoy seeing others do too :)

Here's an interesting fact that may help you decide if there's enough comps on here.
The other day Absolute radio did a comp, twitter one. You had to tweet the tunes as they played for 24 hours ..so after an evening on here comping I decided to try and do the full 24 too. This is what I did. All that time I was entering comps ...maye 30 hours of comping total? Apart from twitter and FB I never left here, and I still could have found more to enter. The only unusual thing was the few seconds every 3 minutes taken to tweet...the MSE was just as always so I could do that again if I liked in a few days time. :)

This forum is part of the MSE site.
What I mean is that the competitions core here is purely forum based, on Loquax it's a two section service (well three if you throw with what we do on Facebook) - and that can cause a few confusions if people are expecting it to be the same.

Fully appreciate the scale of MSE Comping... it keeps sites like us on our toes and not being complacent. There are things we can do that aren't done here, but we have limitations - and vice versa.
I've read some real tripe too written as if it were fact.
LOL... thanks... don't hold back!! Was that the Twitter Research one? We did reply to your comments but you never responded - but everything that's written on the blog is explained (or should be) in terms of how we derived our conclusion (and in that case it was very initial conclusions). But it's just that and you are very welcome to dispute it. Discussion is after all good.
    It's not a war OP.
That's very true (unless you call our blog tripe... lol).

Just going to pop in and give my support to both.

I use both MSE and Loquax - both are good in their own way. Sometimes I'll spend an evening looking through LQ, sometimes here. I've won from both and find both the discussion on here and the blogs on there quite useful and sometimes entertaining.

The only problem with using both is tracking your entries - it's good to pick a main one and venture to the other one to see if anything else is about.

I'd occasionally venture out to some of the others, but MSE and LQ aside, there are quite a few dodgy sites out there - some being a front for comp subscription or automated entry sites.
    Competition wins:
    2010 - approx £450. 2011 - approx £800. 2012 - approx £300. 2013 - nothing so far!

I go between the Main Loquax site, the Loquax forum and this site. The best thing about using the forums is that lovely people post the answers :)
If you do this, there will be some comps listed on both sites so be careful you dont enter twice by mistake.(it doesn't always matter but often does matter)
