SAR Nat West not complied

Since 4th November 2011 Nat West were in receipt of my request for SAR on my current account.

My partner sent a request on the same day and duly received his just marginally on the timescale of 40 days .

Nothing for me !!

So I requested they look into this and 3rd January 2012 they replied with we do not recognise your signature.!!

My bank verified my signature and I sent it off recorded delivery.

Today I rang them and was told sorry we have not received it when I said I had proof of them receiving it the line went dead.

A few minutes later a call!! Yes we have your. Request but we have a very heavy backload !! I bet they have.!!

Well now I am told by the person I spoke to that it would be fast tracked so that means another 40 day wait.

The laughable thing is that they asked was it for PPI and had to tell them no (already been dealt with ) and it is my business why I want it after all they cashed my ten pound cheque soon enough and all I want is my data.

Is it worth me contacting ICO ?

Having written to the chief executive and they replied that they would look into the matter 16th January 2012 , I can not see an end to this matter.

  • Did you ever get anywhere with this? I'm in a similar situation, waiting for Natwest to comply with my SAR

They got it on 5th Jan and wrote to me late Feb to say sorry they hadn't complied, they needed longer! I have sent another letter to remind them I have recieved next to nothing from them, giving them a further 14 days, which will be up next week

They have continued to phone at all hours and send letters wanting me paying my overdraft back as they have closed my accounts! I've been paying PPI for over 10 years on 3 loans, although they denied I even had PPI when I asked several years ago!

Anyway, best of luck to you, hope you got what you wanted from them :)

    Hi
I did get some data back after giving them 7 day's and then warned them that I would complain to ICO , what I think moved them on was that I wrote to the CEO Stephen Hester and the reply said that they would monitor the situation.

When I rang data compliance initially they said there was a huge backlog !

The data sent only went back 6 years but did have a reference to my PPI in my loan settled in 2004.

I have been repaid the PPI that cleared my outstanding overdraft and it was a lengthy wait but the debt management then sent me a cheque for the remainder and closed my account .

Having been through the debt management side I can sympathise with you as the calls and demands were a bind when you are not in a situation to clear the account but it is done now and I am free if Nat West after 20 years .

Good luck and I hope you get the details from them , they will use every stalling tactic but keep going !

  • I don't know if this helps or not but 10 days ago I received a letter from Natwest apologising for the delay in responding to the SAR request but they had such a backlog they were struggling to send out the requests within the time limit.

However, it turned up 3 days later, so it wasn't that late, but they do have a big backlog at the moment.
