That's right , there is no way a closed account can be resurrected and that would apply to any one . Not a great system as mistakes cannot be corrected0 -

Where i work (not Halifax) a closed account can't be reopened either.0 -
I am unsure about resurecting closed accounts but I can definately say that banks always say there is nothing they can do.
I was conned (sort of) into a reward account with Santander a few years ago and the woman waited for me to sign the paperwork and then I asked if there was any charge at which point she finally said there was a £10 charge! Okay so I should have asked before hand but had I not asked then she would have had no intentions of telling me. But anyway I said okay but I went home and thought about ti and thought I couldn't really reap the rewards from the account and it seemed a bit pointless to spend 10 quid a month for something I'm never gonna use so I went in to change it back. Now bearing in mind I've had this account for 6/7 years now and have a pretty good overdraft and she said 'sorry can't downgrade, you will need to close it and open another' of course this was a bit annoying but I opened another none the less and thought in the end I would rather pay £10 than lose this account. Anyway I spoke to a good friend who worked for Santander at the time and she said that I could quite clearly get it downgraded. just to be sure I also rang customer services who agreed. And so I went in for a 3rd time to tell the woman that I had spoken to two employees and she finally said 'oh well I will downgrade it then'.
Sorry for the long winded rant but just getting the message across that banks sooo do not know what they are doing half the time and lie alot too.The truth is out there... and I want to believe0 -
They also put a block on my new account which prevented me transfering the money to another bank account.
All my money has now (finally) been removed from Halifax. They gave me £150 comp for the closure and a further £50 for them blocking my account over the weekend incorrectly.
If this compensation is enough I wont know till all my direct debits (hopefully) come out at the end of the month.Just have a little faith0
