New to ebay, little advice please?

An Item I sold, ended last Saturday (10TH) the winning bid was over £22.00.

I sent the winner an invoice on Sunday, heard nothing. A I don't work on Wednesday, so its easier to get to the post office, I sent a gentle reminder on Tuesday night, explaining I could post the next day if I had payment-nothing.

Last night I sent a firm reminder, still no responce at all.

How long do you leave it before re-listing, what are the consiquences (SM) if I relist and he/she pays?
If I use the 're-list' option, I won't be charged ebay fees twice will I?

The buyer has about 15 feedbacks, all good, appart from the first one, last year.

I expect this has been asked a thousand times, but I have searched back about 10 pages and couldn't find the answer! So please feel free to merge!

Thanks for your help.

    Hi

After 7 days you can start the non paying bidder process (type 'unpaid' into help for details) and this then gives them a further 7 days to respond and make payment.

If after that time they dont pay they get a non paying bidder strike and you get your final value fees back.

If they have not left a response to the non paying bidder dispute you can leave whatever feedback you want for them and if they leave feedback for you it will be removed by eBay automatically as their 'punishment' for not responding to the dispute.

Once the dispute is finalised you can relist and will get your original basic listing fees back if it sells the second time but you wont if you relist before that point.

To keep things on a professional level, take into consideration that the buyer may be away on holiday or even in hospital and is not aware that he/she has won. If you feel uncomfortable about how it's going request the buyers details from ebay which allows you to call them or email them direct. There's nothing worse than getting overexcited........ I learned the hard way when the buyer was hospitalised due to an RTC........ just a thought

    Or so they said.:D :D

You could always add, 'All buyers must send Email within 3 days of item being won.' (or something like that) as part of the conditions which the buyer must agree to before bidding.

Then if they breach those conditions then you are under no obligation to supply the goods and they cannot complain.

I have always had fast results from starting the unpaid item procedure (happened 2 or 3 times in a long history of selling). Ebay sends the buyer a firm reminder and they seem to stop dithering. I suspect that in at least one of my cases they had changed their minds about the item and were hoping I wouldn't pursue it - but there was no unpleasantness in the end. Worth trying now?
  • Is there any way of seeing how many non-paying bidder strikes ebay members have?

Thanks for all the replies guys-I'd never heard of the Unpaid item Procedure.

The buyer must be psychic, I've just had a message stating there has been some crisis, and now he/she can't access Paypal. If you read it, sounds a bit limp, but think I'll have to wait a few days, at least I know what to do, if nothing happens.

    Ta x

  • Do you think it would be worth investing in some sort of clinic for all of the ebayers who regularly have some sort of non-paying crisis??!!

Oh you poor little things. Get upset do we. O.k. I have done my best research and heres what I came up wiv for diddums.

Needs to include slow payers as well so the place for all you grown ups could be the Non or Slow Payers Crisis Centre. :)

    NSPCC for short.
