Safe Deposit Boxes

Not sure if this is the right forum but,

What do people do with expensive items such as jewellery etc that they do not use but want to be secure.

I have searched for safe deposit boxes, but Barclays (my bank) do not offer the service any more.

Anybody got any ideas

I have a safe in the loft which is bolted to the wall. You don't even notice it unless you know what your looking for.

Barclays do still offer it at some branches but this seems to be few and far between now.

A few other banks offer the safe box service along with some specialist agents, try searching online but be aware of the usual tricks and cons.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

If you live near a branch (they are mainly in London) Metro Bank offer safe deposit boxes.
  • Selfridges (department store) in London offers safe deposit boxes. The strongroom has a wonderful period feeling and looks like a set from some old film noir.

I don't know if Harrods still offers safe deposit boxes (they used to); but it is possible the strongroom has become a victim of 'modernisation' and increased shopping space.
