Car Boot Sales

In my quest to become debt free I have decided to start car boot sales.
I have decided to sell: homemade cards and gift baskets as well as lots of used books, clothes etc.
I have never done a car boot sale before - does anyone have any tips for me.
Thanks in advance Nic xx

in my experience, books sell well, but for small money. so you need lots of em.
clothing was a disaster for me.
general bric a brac is very good.
specialist hobby stuff is brilliant. ie fishing gear.Get some gorm.0 -
It's difficult to advise with bootfairs as often you sell the things that you can't imagine anyone wanting and the things you think will fly don't sell.
Books and even videos sell well but everyone wants a bargain so you won't get much per item.
If you are selling nice homemade items I would suggest that you pick a nice upmarket area where the punters have got money for luxury items.
On a practical note, keep an eye on your float at all times (a bag to sling over your shoulder is the best bet), take something to sit on and get there early.AMAZON MEMBERS CLUB - NUMBER 650 -

I've sold a bit of everything on my car boot sales. Books are doing fairly well but they are only selling for 50p -1.00. What many girls seems to be interested in and what are selling first for me (admittedly not to a large sum of money) are the perfume samples I get from the freebiee site here. I sell them for 1.00 each
I do agree with what Jo D said "you sell the things that you can't imagine anyone wanting and the things you think will fly don't sell"
I only started doing car boot sales late last summer and I really enjoy it, you never know what to expect and no Sunday are the same.
If you use the search engine and look at car boot sales you'll be able to find further advise on what other people have done.
All the best

Might sound silly, but don't forget really warm clothes, flask of hot drink, snack, something to sit on, small change and plastic bags. Being cold and tired can make it a miserable experience. Out grown toys and baby stuff in good clean condition always sells well0

Taking your own food and drink is a good idea. I did a bootfair last summer in, let's say, a downmarket area of my city where we only made about £20. We then discovered that we had spent most of that on bacon sandwiches, tea and soft drinks. Doh!!
Mind you, I usually spend my profits on other peoples' stalls anyway.AMAZON MEMBERS CLUB - NUMBER 650 -
My OH is very "crafty", lol. Lots of homemade items etc. I think they look wonderful - but they just don't sell!
Too many people making there own now - and the materials can be quite expensive when you make the card that you need to sell it for a certain price just to break even on costs, forgetting all the time you've taken to make the card in the first place.0 -
If you are selling Clothes, take a mirror, Clothes sales will rise no end.0
