Young Persons Railcard

I am looking at the conditions for a Young Persons Railcard (16-25) and it states that a minimum fare applies if the card is to be used before 10am, generally this minimum fare is £12.
However when I go to purchase tickets online via National Rail/London Midland/Virgin Trains for a 6am train and select Railcard, a discount is applied. The original price is under £12 but this advanced fare is discounted further.
I rang the number of the young persons railcard website and was told that I couldn't get a discount on any advance fare nor was I allowed to use the railcard before 10am.
I am just wondering whether anyone knows who's responsibility this is to note that it is a train before 10am and that a young persons railcard has to have a minimum fare. If I was to buy my advanced tickets (so selecting a specific train) online would this be valid on a 6am train with a young persons railcard?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I understand that the 10am limitation doesn't apply if the journey is on Virgin trains.
You were told wrong about advance tickets.0 -
Your best bet is to post at a dedicated Fares, Ticketing & Routeing forum, but I can tell you that there is no minimum fare on Advance tickets on the 16-25 (formerly 'Young Persons') Railcard.
As for Virgin Trains, there is no relaxation of the minimum fare rule with Virgin Trains that I am aware of. I wonder if you are thinking of the relaxation of the restriction on Off Peak Single / Off Peak Return (SSS/SSR) fares where all travel is on Virgin Trains?0
