Death of policy holder, position of named driver.

I've tried to search for this information but without success. So, if a car is owned and insured by a wife with her husband as a named driver, what is the position if she dies first? Is the insurance transferred to him fairly automatically or does he have to apply for fresh insurance? Also would the no-claims bonus transfer or not?
Thanks

I believe that the many insurance companies are pretty flexible - the executor needs to speak with them.0

NCB can't be transfered and if the main policy holder dies I'd imagine the policy would be voided since it would be incorrect.0

It is a contract.
You can not have a valid contract with someone who is dead.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
But until the estate is resolved, the contract is accepted to be with the executor.0

As always, because insurance companies responses will vary then the best and safest course of action is to talk directly to the insurers and get it all from the horses mouth. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm looking into something similar. My Dad owns the car, Mum and myself are named drivers. I'm off to try and get quotes for her as the main driver as my Dad won't be driving anymore as he's too ill. He has full no claims but the only company i've phoned so far has raised the premium by £300 for doing this. The car is only worth about £400 but the insurance would be nearly £600. It would still be £500 for 3rd party, fire and theft (the car is 11 years old but had it since almost new and it's reliable and would probably cost them more to replace). It's a shame as my Mum has been driving for 50 years without ever having an accident or a claim.0

As the named driver will become the main driver upon the death of the policy holder, they can no longer be a named driver.0

When the policy holder dies or can no longer drive because of health problems then a local broker should be able to help get the NCD transferred to a spouse etc who has been a named driver.0
