My criminal record

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I am looking at finding out my criminal record.
I got done for theft in 2004ish and sure I got prosecuted in 2005. I want to know if this is still showing on my record or is it a permanent fixture on there?
Do I contact the police or do I have to question it to someone else?
Cheers

You can get a copy of your criminal record here:
http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/
It costs £25 and you should receive it in post within a week.
You will have to provide some proof of id and address, and these can be sent as e-mail attachments.
I have to get a copy of my record every 6 months as this is a requirment for many of the places I go to work, and the whole process is quick and painless.
There are other companies who provide the same service, but I've used this one many times and never had a problem or delay.0 -
Scotland. I live in England. Thought it was all separate up there?0

My fault.
I should have added that although it's called Disclosure Scotland, that's only because of where they are based.
They will provide a record for anyone living anywhere in the UK.0 -

What sentence did you get and what was your age at conviction? You may find that your criminal record is permanent but there may be a limit for how long you should have to declare it to employers etc. Depending on the sentence that could be 7 to 10 years, a non-custodial could be less.0

240 hours community service and a fine. I was 240

That sentence at that age should stay on your record for 5 years. See link below for some more useful info.

However for enhanced disclosures for certain jobs, etc you have to disclose all convictions, cautions etc no matter how long ago and they will show up.0
