Consolidation of wealth is not something the government appreciates or takes kindly to and they will change the environment to remove that benefit, but that is an entirely new topic and very early to start it now but to consider that bubbles are unacceptable.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »Once again, you're wrong.
BTL mortgages have been tightened up to such an extent with high deposit and income requirements that they're now pretty much the safest form of lending there is.
What is absolutely the case is that BTL is expanding from just starter flats into the whole market, and far fewer people will own houses in the future.
Wealth is being consolidated in the hands of fewer people that are getting richer, and the owner occupation percentages are falling rapidly as a generation is forced to enrich their landlords instead of themselves.
The market is extremely vulnerable to the Eurozone issues and these external factors will cause great damage to rental and sales in the market.0 -

But there again, this time last year you offered Beowulf Mining as your 2011 share of the year.
Beowulf Mining (BEM) is my top share for 2011.

I did very well out of that one. Thanks for highlighting that, notice when I posted that? (I bought in 2010 BTW, i'm sure if you dig back further you will find that).
Perhaps this will help.
I took the third peak as the end of the elliott wave and moved on. Just bought back in there again recently.0 -

You ARE talking about the TORIES, aren't you??
In which case you are so far off the truth it's rather embarrassing for you.
The Tories are made up of millionaires and property owners ... mostly BTL Landlords are TORY!!
There is NOTHING they will do about people investing in properties to rent out .... except give more tax breaks!
This is really great news - the yield on my investments is astounding - carry on renting!!Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -

Yes, on 1st march 2011 when the share price was 70p you said:Beowulf Mining (BEM) is my top share for 2011.
By the year end it had fallen to around 17p.
Let's hope nobody took you seriously.

At the moment it is not constrained, but caps on number of homes that can be owned is one direction they may move in. Even the strongly capitalist America limits this. Then there are foreign capital limits like they have in Switzerland. There is already interest in limiting P/E ratios. Etc....You ARE talking about the TORIES, aren't you??

Wow.
Such delusion....
There is precisely zero chance of the UK government capping the number of houses you are allowed to own. And there is no cap on the number of houses you can own in America either.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I'm actually looking to sell my share portfolio. All this QE has artificially inflated my shares which I bought cheap.

Oh are you sure it was a 0.1% rise and not a 0.06% rise rounded up Mr Ree?:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.
