Wanting to learn .....

Hi all

I usually look through the virus/hjt threads to see if I can figure out what does what.
I've been doing it for a while so I can usually(?) spot some of the more obvious things (like some things that can be switched off during startup, etc) but I'd like to learn more.

Are there any on-lin resources for learning this sort of stuff (i.e. reading logs, recommended software, etc)?

rmg1 if you really want to learn this stuff and actually know what to do properly then the following are websites who host training facilities: United Network of Instructors and Trained Eliminators

• Geeks to Go
• SpywareHammer
• Malware Removal
• What the Tech
• Spyware Info Forum
• That Computer Guy
• Tech Support Forum

You need to enrol in their training programs and you will be taught how to use the programs like HJT properly and the more advanced, not outdated programs (which HJT is). Alternatively those forums have loads of tutorials on them as well.

Copy & paste your hijackthis logfile into the textbox, will give some help but further knowledge is essential to know what to keep and what to remove.
