Unsure if eligable for PPI rebate?

Very new to all this, so apologies if this comes accross as a little confusing.
Basicly, in the very beginning, my other half took out a credit card (Halifax) with a £2,500 limit, as we had just started renting a property.
He then took out a £4,000 loan (Halifax also), to pay off the credit card, and have our car fixed. This loan paid off the credit card.
He then lost his job, and couldnt afford to make re-payments on the loan or the rent, so therefore lived off the credit card for the basics such as rent and food for 7 months.
After a few months, worrying about missing payments ect he joined a debt consolidation company (DFH) who managed to freeze the intrest - in the end.
Total repayment including intrest was for just over £9,000.
He found work around 7 months into this situation, and has been making payments over the past year and a half.
We were just wondering what we could do to try and speed up this debt process, and wondering weather we are eligable for PPI? As we are unsure if we were sold it at the time of taking out the credit card and loan......

Ring the Halifax and ask if you had ppi.
It is not a rebate of ppi you need to have reasons this was mis sold to you.
It is possible you did not have ppi,i would have thought the Halifax would have told your hubby to claim on this when he was out of work?,no harm asking anyway is there?.
Just to let you know,if the ppi is there and you were mis sold, the redress will be taken off the debts.
If you have ppi and were mis sold,do the claim yourself,do not use a company to do this,as you will end up with a bill for their services as the redress will go to the debt.
