Antepsin - Long Term?

Hello. I am hoping someone can give me some advice. My dog has a very easily upset stomach (caused by eating daft things, usually). The vet has sometimes given us Antepsin which seems to sort her out really quickly. However we only get this after 24 hours of misery by the time we can get her to see the vet.
Is it viable to have Antepsin ready at home to give her if her stomach gets upset (usually at bed time, helpfully) or are there problems with giving it long term. Obviously I will speak to our vet the next time this happens but if anyone has any experience of this I would be very grateful. Thank you...

Have you tried giving your dog natural yogurt? Mine has some for his breakfast every morning, never seems to get tummy troubles.0

Thank you for your reply & suggestion. Never tried this, but to be honest I am a little scared to...all she can eat is Chappie & a little plain chicken. Even the specialist vet foods cause her a problem. I am just looking for some way of straightening her back out when she shows signs of tummy trouble (usually gurggling innards, grass eating and dreadful wind). How much yogurt do you give him/her?0

Hi, Antepsin coats the lying of the stomach in a way that natural yogurt does not.
I have experience of a dog whose for 5 years I have had to manage with Inflammatory Bowel Disease ( in his case affects his stomach, intestines and bowel).
Natural yogurt can offer probitics - providing the dog has no current stomach/bowel problem, in short is stable. However not all dogs can tolerate it.
Antepsin coats the sore bits inside the dog and my dog uses often. My vet says there are no side affects. my Dalmatian loves the taste of it. My vet allows me to have some at home, on the strict understanding that I communicate when he needs it and also if after 24hours he has not improved then I make an appt.
Hope this helps Donna0 -

A pot of Sains Basics yogurt which is about the size of a mug, lasts him 4-5 days.
When my last dog had tummy troubles, I was told by the vet that it was ok to give him 2 x 5ml spoonfuls of Kaolin and morphine which you can get at Boots, you have to ask for it now from behind the counter. That was for a mediun sized dog.0
