I see I am not the only one hwo thinks the post is sexist.

I told my wife but she wasnt bothered!!!

A better deal is usually to be found at the Range..A bit vague but I think it is Uniroyal (about £15 for 5 litres)they sell which is a rebadged premium oil maybe Fuchs

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-991-fuchs-titan-xtr-5w-30-high-performance-fuel-economy-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx

which is cheaper than the castrol to start with
  • Told my other half...or at least he used to be...not sure his new wife will appreciate my act of kindness... :A

This is not the same specification oil as the Castrol, Catalyst compatible or low SAPS (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur). This is a much higher spec, and it was in store on the sale isle.ACEA C3 for those that know what i am talking about.

Castrol Edge is also ACEA C3. With respect, the sort of people who spout ratings, followed by "for those that know what I am talking about" generally have no clue about oils. A good oil is one that is right for your engine, ratings only help guide you to a suitable oil. Older cars benefit from slightly thicker oil.

Read the thread i was replying to photome he recommends the link to Fuchs Titan which is not the same oil as Castrol Edge which i am talking about ( i was unable to quote photome it has a link and i am a newbie) so what's a slightly thicker oil then?Older cars do not benefit from thicker oil it's just that they can run on this cheaper oil without damage, but it needs changing on a more regular basis than a semi or full synthetic oil.As i said in my original post Castrol Edge 5W-30 4litres £25 Asda BARGAIN if you know what a bargain is!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Just told the other half ....... She's not impressed.

    Lol - I like it!

Ah but you sure thats what they put in, just 'cos thats what's on the poster doesn't mean thats whats in the tank ;)

I watched them take the measure of 7 litres from their castrol drum
    and put it in direct
unless they have been filling the drum up with cheaper stuff...im pretty sure its the right thing ;)
