Hi smcqis if you click on the link and go to the statement of affairs calculator and if you input all your details it calculates it all for you. It is a very eye opening experience.

Well we got the water bill for next year and I was worried about opening it but I needn't have been as the monthly payments have only gone up by 1p so we should be ok :rotfl: I hope that the council tax only goes up by that too, doubtful I know!
I must get my head down and list some stuff on ebay today both to make money so I can OP but also as it's taking over my front room! I keep finding things that I don't use and think I'll put them on ebay but they have been sitting in a box for months  I have put a some stuff on Amazon and made about £40 so at least that's something.LBM 14/12/06 £21,947.17 DEBT FREE 12/04/09

I must stop looking on Zoopla at the current value of our house as it seems to be falling for fun
I have listed 2 things on ebay and 1 is at £19.99 with 6 watchers so will hopefully go a lot higher and the other has no bids but 14 watchers so I am very hopefull :j
I plan to list some more items today as they are not making any money just sat on the living room floorAnd I hope to encourage a wild bidding war with my top notch treasures and make a fortune :rotfl:
There is always tonight's lottery to look forward to as the jackpot is £4.2 million so I think we could just about survive on that
But bidding wars and lottery wins aside I have been doing more hours at work so that is more money right thereand being at work also keeps me out of trouble, i.e. I can't spend any money, as long as I leave my purse at home
Anyway, enough of my rambling I need to list my treasures on ebay like a good girl!!!LBM 14/12/06 £21,947.17 DEBT FREE 12/04/09

A £5.70 win on the Euro on Tuesday so that will go in my sealed jar and hopefully in another 18 months I will have another £700+
When my ebay listings finished on Sunday before fees I made £237.36 and feeling inspired I have listed another 26 items and I have a pile of more treasures for me to list. Now all I need is people to bid on them and pay me lots of money :rotfl:
I have once again been doing more than my 8 contracted hours at work, usually 25, so that's extra money there. But although we have savings we are planning to use some of these for our September holiday so we need to save up for a proper emergency fund incase the worst should happen. So my plan is as soon as I can is to open a new isa and fill it up and that will be the emergency fund that can only be used in actual emergencies!! And then we will use an ordinary savings account for our holidays and our joint bank account for insurance (home and car) and car tax that we pay once a year to save on the interest. Then any extra we have we will use to OP the mortgage. Now my plan looks good in theory so let's hope in practise it works just as well :rotfl:
Now I must dash as I have just over 2 hours before I leave for work and I need to get my unwanted treasures listed on ebay so people can get bidding on themLBM 14/12/06 £21,947.17 DEBT FREE 12/04/09

Warning I am about to have a rant
When we bought the house we were told that it was a good area with no crime and all is quiet but we have since found this to be untrue! Since we have moved in, 16 months ago, we have had things stolen from our back yard, someone had taken a plank of wood out of the back gate (Lord knows why?) and over the weekend someone tried to get into my car as yesterday I noticed that on the passenger side the corner of the door at the top was all bent back  And not as serious just more annoying for me our neighbours on both sides don't have the greatest relationships and always seem to be arguing and throwing things at the most ridiculous hours! And one side had a very loud dog that is always barking and then you hear them scream "shut up" at it! Then the other side plays it's music so loud that it sounds like it is coming from inside our house. RANT OVER!
Anyway, the car was the final straw and it makes me want to OP more so that we have more equity in the house so that we can have a huge deposit and move house. HOWEVER, as the property market is poop this may not be possible anytime soon. I have looked on Zoopla and the house has gone down in value again and according to them is now worth £17,000 less than we paid for it :mad:If it carries on like this we run of the risk of being in negative equity and we will never be able to move
MUST THINK POSITIVE! Keep making OPs and hope that the value of the house rises. Need to be good though and stop wasting money on things that I think I need. Must remember the money mantras! I think I will keep a spending diary and see where I waste the most money. Also, another bad habit of mine is popping things on the credit card, which I do pay off every month, but this may prove impossible if I keep overspending and end up with a bill for over £1500 which is what I will have to pay at the end of this month  I know that £500 of that was a new watch but the other £1000 is just food, petrol and Lord only knows what
So the rest of today I plan to take lots of pictures for more goodies I have sorted for ebay. Also, package some things that I have already sold. And when my OH comes home get my bank card off him and check the online banking. I also need to look for a new job as hours are really lean at work and I am only on an 8 hour contract and even though I have been doing about 25 hours a week next week I only have 10But the job market is just as bad as the property one

I am now up to page 60 on the All The Small Things thread and I am finding it very inspiring and it is true that all the small things add up to make a big difference.
Just been into Tesco and had a beano in the yellow sticker fridge section!! Got a few good meals for a fraction of the price, including some peppered steaks for the OH to keep his money saving spirits up :rotfl:
Was really stressing about money as when the rota came out I only had 10 hours this week and 10 next week at work but due to someone else being ill, unfortunately, I got an extra 15 hoursAm looking out for another job, preferably one that I can do alongside my current one, and have sent out my cv to lots of places but have not heard anything yet so am keeping everything crossed.

I am updating my diary as I am hoping that it will spur me on to be a good MFW today!
I have been good and been plodding along by overpaying £100 per month. Our fixed rate is finishing and we have just signed up for a 5 year fixed rate at 3.49% which, after much discussion and deliberation, decided was our best option. It reduces our monthly payments by around £35 so we have decided that we will overpay £150 a month as our minimum as it's not much more than we comfortably pay now but will make a great difference. When I popped this amount in the overpayment calculator when our fixed rate is up our mortgage will be under £50,000 :T
Now I do owe my mum £9500  as I got a new (well new to me) car and paid the insurance for the year, plus me needed a new boiler so she offered to lend us the money so that we didn't have to take out a loan. I would like to pay her back ASAP so until this is done we will just be overpaying by £150 per month. Ideally I would like to pay my mum £500 per month and that would take 19 months, but then once she has been paid back if we over pay the mortgage by £500 a month that makes a HUGE difference.
We still need to sell my old car but I am sure we won't get much for it as it's not great and that's why I got a new one. Even if we only got scrap value for it then I will use that towards paying my mum back. And my friend/boss owes me £250 but I don't want to pester her for that as she has her own money worries and she is good with giving me extra shifts where she can at work. I have a lot of stuff that I plan to put on ebay so I really need to get my finger out and do that as it's not doing anything for us sitting in a box in the corner of the living room!! Must stop using the excuse that it's getting too dark to take pictures I will do them tomorrow morning as I have been using that for a week now
So I plan to be more focussed so that I can pay my mum back and then start hammering down the mortgage :ALBM 14/12/06 £21,947.17 DEBT FREE 12/04/09
