B&Q are still selling the same flooring in store.
Can you please point us towards the exact product.

    You also mentioned...
20year guarantee is used as specific selling point on website under goods description no mention of manufacturer !
Is that 'selling point on website' taken from the time when you purchased the flooring?
In other words, do you have any proof that at the time you bought the flooring they were offering the 20 year guarantee, or is that website quote what you can see on their webiste today for the flooring you bought several years ago?

Is it worth writing to administraters of company that manufactured flooring?
    Yes, maybe it is.

Do you know the company that manufactured the flooring?
    Who are/were they?

Clearly, if the guarantee is a retailer's offering, then why should the manufacturer, or their administrators, be interested?
  • Having spent many hours trawling through old paperwork i have found letter from B&Q stating - and I quote ' Thank you for your recent order with B&Q Direct. Enclosed you will find a receipt for the goods you have purchased. Please keep this somewhere safe, as it is also your guarantee.' Cant argue with that surely ......?

As you say... can't argue with that.

It's a shame it doesn't say "Please keep this somewhere safe, as it is also your 20 year guarantee", isn't it? ;)

The wording nowadays states manufacturers guarantee as I am pretty sure it did then

I bought some laminate flooring from B@Q about 5 years ago and I was not under any allusions that it was anything other than a manufacturing guarantee and quite honestly not even worth much then, as it only guaranteed against manufacturing defects

ParquetLOC natural wood veneer flooring is made using 3.1mm of natural wood.
    • ParquetLOC features a 10 year domestic manufacturers guarantee and can be re-laquered 2 to 3 times to make it last even longer.
    • Our range of laminate flooring is an alternative to ParquetLOC. It's harder wearing and has a minimum 12 year manufacturers guarantee (see below for more details).

But is doesn't say who's responsible for said guarantee does it. If you could in this instance claim against the manufacturer then they'd require you to have the receipt as well.

however they've still breached a term of the ongoing contract - 20 year warranty for the flooring.

Do you really think so? I reckon it could be an expensive and futile exercise trying to go down this route
