OK please bear with me as there is history and current issues
for years my husband and i have had debts.paid them off had more, got loans etc etc.
in 1998 i gave up work with long term health problems and because of my health my husbands teenage gambling reared its head again.
i have been back to work given up again etc etc and havent worked now since 2001 ish
there are no resentments etc etc about why how why my husband gambled we are over that emotionally etc so i dnt want that raked up here
we took a debt management plan 10 years ago and paid minimum of £100 a month,we basically havent made any head way on the debts that total about £30.000,we just pay the monthly amount and keep the creditors off our back
to be honest our relationship with our management company has broken down and i cant see a way out.
they never call us to do reviews and for that reason they dnt know we now have a five year old son, thats how out of touch we are
to summarise this is our situation
1.dh works
2.medically i am unable
3.we have a 5 year old son(undisclosed to creditors)
4.old debts totally £30.000 with DM
5.we kept hold of/were able to get more credit on store cards etc totalling £4500
6.we WANT to be rid of debt,dh getting older and dnt want to be paying with his pension
7.scared of losing all spare income.we tried 10 years for our son and he is everything,so want spare cash for him
8.SCARED of having no money
9.if we didnt have the £30000 debt we cope with paying everything else comfortably
10.feel we need to leave our current dm as we have hidden our son from them
HELP!!!!!

Who is your DMP with?
Have you contacted one of the debt advice charites for some help and advice?
It sounds like you DMP is not with a charity. I'd suggest cancelling that as soon as you can and then talking to a charity either about setting up a new DMP or considering what other options may be suitable to you - IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.
Check through your paperwork to see how to cancel your current DMP (or often the terms are on their website). Most require a months written notice to cancel.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yep, sounds like you need to investigate your options with one of the free DMP charities x
Also, is it worth posting up your current SOA so that the lovely folks here might make suggestions? Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70
DMP Support number 424 - Long haul number 3080 -
sry what do you mean by SOA?0

A SoA - statement of affairs, basically list of income, outgoings and debts using this calculator - http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html -
it helps you and us see your full financial postion and how much you should be able to afford towards debts. We can then suggest what the best options are and also hopefully spot areas in your outgoings you could save money/get things cheaper by switching suppliers/making small changes etc -A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
