PDF opening problems

Grrrrr yet another job requiring printing off a PDF and posting the application to them, printer issues are fixed but it is attached to my stepdads computer which is using windows 7 (my laptop uses windows 7 too)

When I select to download or open the PDF all I get is a blue screen telling me it is windows media centre. It gives me options such as TV, Video, Photos etc but no where can I find an option to open PDF.

If anyone can give me step by step instructions on how to solve this I would be grateful.

My only other option is to email the document from my laptop to a friend and get them to print it off which may take a couple of days.

Not sure why it would open with Media Centre, but in all probability it just means that he doesn't have a PDF reader installed on his PC.

There are other options, but the quickest way is (on his PC) just go to Adobe's website, download and install their reader and job's done.

If you have got reader installed then it sounds like you have somehow associated the .pdf file to media centre.

To reset this you can go to Control Panel>Programs>Make a file type always open in a specific program

Find .pdf and double click on it. Pick Adobe Reader from the list and click OK.

    Should be OK now.

In windows 7, open the folder in which the PDF is sitting.
Right click the PDF and point the cursor at 'open with',
    Choose default program(bottom of list)
look at the list of programmes available in the box it brings up to see if there is a PDF viewer and if not look at the bottom of the box and there is 'browse for program'.
You can then look in your program folder and see if there is a PDF reader and choose it.
If there isn't, you need to go and download one first.
I use 'Nuance PDF reader' but there are several others.

    .

If you share the computer on the network, then as long as his computer is switched on, you can print directly from yours.
