JFK Transfer time - different airlines- help!

We are flying to JFK with Delta. We are then catching a flight to San Francisco with United.

When we booked we had allowed 4 hours between flights. However both flight times have changed and we now have 1 hour 50 minutes between flights.

We fly into terminal 3 and out of terminal 7. I have researched and tranfers seem to be easy between terminals.

Could someone advise me please. Do we have enough time to pick up our luggage and make check-in at terminal 7?

Hubby is getting a tad anxious!

the biggest issue will be clearing immigration - you have to do that when you land rather than at your final destination. i'd be nervous with under 2 hours.......

The transfer is not a issue at all the regular terminal bus stops at every terminal on a loop basis.

On arrival at JFK you will have to go through Immigration, then collect your luggage then through customs then onto terminal bus, upon arrival at United you will have to check in and get through passport control before making your gate.

    a few tips for you.

When checking in at UK arrive early and get a seat at the front of the plane out going plane so get off quick, and less of a queue at immigration

Do not be shy of asking at immigration if the queue is long to try and get to the front of the queue. ( us Brits are normally quite shy about asking and also others rarely complain directly if you were to get let in ).

Never try and rush the US Immigration or customs you have to accept they have to be thorough and will think smething is not right if you look stressed.

When you go to check in for SF flight you will have about 30 minutes to check in before they close the gate. Once again explain you are needing to catch a certain flight.and dont hang about in a long queue prority is given to people who have planes to catch as Airlines hate having to run around looking for people and maybe lose there slot. ( pack a few basic clothes also in a carry on bag as you may need some underwear and a top if your bags dont make the flight but will get to you straight next day )

MAIN THING IS dont stress and be positive.
AND NEVER be shy of asking worse thing is they can say in sorry no.

Good luck you can do it no trouble :T

I'll second that. At the JFK Delta line last time I was there staff were going up and down the line asking if people had a connecting flight going soon and jumping them to the front of the check in and security queues.
