b&q kitchen

Hi got a quote from them today....wait for it! £19,500 .we have a fairly big kitchen plus wanted utility to blend in too. fitting is £8,500 ....on the breakdown they charge £60 to move a fridge freezer and plug in lol. We really like the red kitchen with curved cupboards. Any advice on what is a reasonable price to fit kitchen including, tiling walls, floor and plumbing electrics....we have been stung with dodgy workmanship before so want a good job done. thanks

    I'd suggest approx £1500.

    £8,5K for fitting?!?! LOL.

Im in the process of looking at getting a new kitchen, glad Ive read some of these posts! A lot of mentions re Ikea-they seem pretty popular. Anyone else recommend them?
Ive had a quote from Wickes £12,000ish with appliances, which doesnt seem as expensive now compared to B & Q! I also need to replace an old boiler & get a new fuse box.
Im seriously thinking now of revamping instead-new doors, worktops just to put us on a few more years & enable us to get the necessary things done first.
Just dont know where to start anyone had any experience with buying replacement doors please?

How big is your kitchen? I got an approx quote from them very recently for a small to medium kitchen (not a galley but not big enough for table and chairs). I say approx as I didn't go into the detail of handles or exact choice of tiles. It was £6500 for the kitchen including appliances and min £3500 for fitting. I have already decided not to use it but I wanted a rough idea.
  • Depends where you are in the country? I imagine if b and q are asking for £8.5k an independent kitchen fitter will be round the £3 to £4k mark.
  • There kitchens may be cheap but their fitting costs are not. The fit im doing this week was going to cost £3.5k with Ikea. Im doing it for a little under £1750
