So basically you think it is OK to screw over your customers unless they complain on here and give you bad publicity and then and only then - you will sort out their problems?
Too late chap - damage done.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I certainly won't even consider a quote from Hastings Direct having seen this from them twice now.0 -
I use Hastings and have just had a accident, I was hit by a foriegn lorry on the motorway, exchanged details managed to drive home contacted Hastings who arranged a courtisy car from Nationwide (although I had to pay 100 pounds excess which I shouldnt have had to pay being fully comp) they repaired the car within a week ( I actually thought they would have wrote the car of as the value of it was about 1500 pounds) so I didnt really have any problems dealing with them.0

Erm, until a settlement is agreed I am pretty sure it's still YOUR car and you can demand it back! I believe this is the stance the insurance ombudsman takes, based on a FAQ I read (from the insurance ombudsman website) a while back...0

correct, untill a payout is cashed and documents handed over, the insurers do not own the vehicle, it pre emptive to move the vehicle to a copart compound before the vehicle is theirs, as any extra damage to the car hastings will be held liable.
you are entitled to have the vehicle back for a independant quote for repairs you do not have to use your insurers approved repairer either though this has other downfalls.0 -
I had a accident 4 weeks ago, not my fault, car was taken to Nationawide Crash repairs, who have deemed it a total loss as it will cost more than the car is worth. The damage is not mechnical, front side damage, requires a front wing and bumper!!!! I was informed that my car would be taken to the co-part salavage until a settlement figure is decided. I own the car and it has taken without me giving authorisation. Hastings have told me it is not their decision if a car is a total loss it is up to the authorised repairers to decide this, they tell me it is Hastings, after several calls and getting no where.
I ave called the total loss team and have managed to have car returned to my home address for me to get a 2nd quote from a local garage, they tell me it has to be less than the valur of the car, but they can tell me what the value is...what a load of bullocks, they must know if their authorised repairers have told them it is a total loss.
IT HAS BEEN ME CHASING THE INSURERS THEY DONT give a !!!!!!!0 -

Correct.
Until the claim is settled / finalised the car is not their property but still the owners (unless specified differently in the terms).
I had this very same issue with my insurers a while back and had to fight the swines too.0
