Hi,
i am looking for quotes to get my cat insured. I had a look via compare the meerkat and the lowest insurance is with 'Animal Friends'.
After googing reviews for them, i am a bit worried about it, so how many of you have used them?

Like all insurance, statistically you will loose money, if you did not, they would all be bust.
Money saving denotes you only hold insurance required by law, unless you know something they dont and need to pull the wool a bit.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I would hate to think that i would have to have her PTS if i coudlnt afford to get her treatment. She is almost 5 now, so i have left it too long already and am very lucky that something hasnt happened to her before now!0

I've used them for years for a cat. Had to claim a few times and they paid out no problems. Seemed fine to me.0

Thanks Blunther.
They are considerably cheaper than the others too.
Gad to hear someone has had good experiences with them.0 -
When I worked at Cat's Protection, Animal Friends were the insurers we recommended, mainly due to the fact that they give a percentage of their profits to animal care, although this was a few years ago and I don't know if anything has changed (I would assume not). I haven't heard anything negative about them so I think they're decent.Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0

We wont accept direct claims from Animal Friends anymore (same as E&L). They seem to take random amounts off and are not worth the hassle. It doesn't matter how much the bill is we will expect payment from the owner. Not sure what has changed recently but this is a change we have made in the last few months0

AVOID AVOID AVOID.
Similar to Smowman2, we havent taken direct claims for over a year. They exclude anything and everything, happily put a 35% co-payment on claims, cap randomly on fees (variatiosn between clients is amazing).
They are cheap for a reason... Please look at Pet Plan of the pet has beenuninsured for 5 years. All the cheap insurers will exclude anything with "the symptoms the same or similar to..." and that can cover alot.NOT a NEWBIE!

I dealt with Animal Friends at one time. They were a total pain in the proverbial when I had to claim from them. Took them 6 months to pay out and I had to stand the expense for all of that time. Wouldnt touch them with a b arge pole.0
