Sorry if my suggestions look harsh, but I've been there and the first things that have to go are the things that make life living. Ditch the fags, mags, sky, hobbies and haircuts, hit the charity shops for clothes or revamp/make do with what you've got.

You only have to deprive yourself for a limited time, once you're solvent again it's up to you what you spend your money on, but till then ......

I will have to do this when my contribution based JSA stop, I won't get anything then.

Oh dear, here we go again.
  • The car is costing quite a bit, is it your other half who uses it for work? Could they get more hours? Or could you possibly do without the car until you get yourself back on your feet?

If she ups her hours HB goes down, if she has no car she has no work, we live in the sticks, doesn't benefit her to work anyway, we'd get as much on JSA and wouldn't have to spend on fuel but she would be sanctioned if she left.

I take it you've not seen my rants and raves on the employment board, I am averaging 1 job application per month as there is nothing local about to apply for, so its looking this situation is gonna be pretty permanent.
