Another Sellar bidding on my items

A sellar who is selling the same item for me on a BIN, mine is on auction, is bidding on my item. They are also bidding on other peoples auctions as well
( The auctions are generally selling for more than the BIN prices )

Why would they do this ?

They are increasing the price of other peoples sales or do you think they are trying to win all other auctions and not pay for goods - they are a power sellar so Im not sure what the motivation is behind this

More experianced ebayers have you any ideas about this ?

  • Sounds like auction wrecking... maybe.

    OR

Perhaps he's miscalculated and has sold more stock than he has, and needs yours to fulfil the purchases! (I've heard of this happening, although it sounds unlikely :))

Why not send him a friendly email... saying you were curious why he's bidding, and could he tell you why? Depending on the answer you get, be ready to cancel his bids!

If he's auction wrecking, he's being either very blatant, or totally stupid, by using his selling account.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

asked the question and the reply is:

"As long as they are priced less than you can obtain them for, they are still a good buy for me. "

so I suppose the answer is fair - but Ill see if he bids over cost price - if he does what would you do.?

Ive decided to blocked him anyway as I think as a buyer I would be suspicious of anyone buying and bidding on different auctions - thinking they were same person and running price up.

  • It may be he's bumping up your prices so that his BIN looks more attractive to other people. Or he could genuinely be aiming to buy yours and sell on.

I would have absolutely no problem with other sellers buying my goods, in fact when sales are slow I would positively encourage them :D

It makes no difference to me who buys my items, as long as they pay. About 18 months ago I had a seller buy up huge quantities of my items and I was so nosey I emailed and asked what he was doing with them. He told me he was operating a party plan type thing in Scotland and my prices were cheaper than he could buy direct. In the end while my stock lasted (about 2 months) I was acting as a middle man and just buying stock on his behalf, adding a premium for my trouble and postage costs ad shipping it direct to him. That was a nice little earner for a while. It only worked though because my source sold direct and would not consider mail order, so my Scottish buyer couldn't get the stock any other way.

I've also just had someone buy an entire load of my identical Dutch BIN items and he's asked if I can get more..I rather suspect he is doing the same sort of thing.

  • When i was selling i would buy everyone's stock and sell for my prices rather than theirs. Only if i could buy theirs less - of course.

There's a guy in Scotland I buy off who sells the same item as me for nearly half what I pay elsewhere for mine! I sell the same item as part of another product though which fetches a much greater price :D . I couldn't believe my luck in finding them so cheap so asked the geezer how many he could get. He replied asking "how many do you want?" but I fear he probably fell off his chair in shock when I replied asking if he could supply by the pallet load! Unfortunately he can't sell in that quantity (or doesn't want to) so continues to list them in pairs at about 3 listings per week on a BIN which is not nearly enough but I can't snap them up fast enough! I just wish I knew who his supplier is, damnit!

  • I had a rival buy one of my items once and was worried because I thought that they might give me negative feedback to try to reduce my sales! This didn't happen fortunately so not everyone's out to wreck you!!! I wouldn't be worried about it. If anything, it's likely to increase your final price as there's an extra bidder competing for the item.:T

try asking him. If you want to buy in bulk you may get a better price than he's paying. If you can then he might want to play nicely and add some to your order for him at your price.
