hi there just about to go to ikea to spend over £500. Have got my Family card application form all filled out to take with me to get money off a couple of the items I need. Just wanted to ask if when you first register for this card they send you any money off vouchers/codes? Would hate to get home and find an email saying "welcome to Ikea family card ... here's 10% off your first shop" or something such like. thanks for any help

When I got my card, there were no vouchers with it. to be honest, I'm not even sure what free rewards I will get with the card and I've never been invited to special events either (something they promise in their advertising).LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Yes I seem to remember getting something but I can't remember what it was exactly. Think it might have been £10 off a £60 spend or something like that.
I used to get the odd voucher now and again for various different things but have not had anything for sometime now.0 -
You get offers in store for cheaper products with the family card. You also get some meals cheaper with the family card in the Ikea restaurant and I think you get free coffee on a Wednesday.
I was invited to an event last year when they were launching their campaign for space saving ideas. It was great you got tea/coffee some chocs, had a talk and slide show then taken arouond the store to see how the space saving could fit into your own home. As a thank you every person there was given a gift to take away. I got a load of food containers, some of the boxes you make up yourself and voucers for free meals. On the whole it was just an hour out of my day but very rewarding. I think they will only offer the events when they are launching a new marketing strategy.0 -

I have seen special events for family members advertised in store. I seem to recall some kind of tea party but it was not free, a small charge was made.0 -

It could well be because I don't go to Ikea so often now that my flat is pretty much set up. I suppose I also expected them to mail stuff but they don't seem to do so, so if I don't go into the shop, I don't find out about the events.
Or perhaps I just have a boring local ikea! :rotfl:
and I am too [STRIKE]mean[/STRIKE] MSE to pay for entry into special events :rotfl::rotfl:LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

thanks for all replies. have just got back - spent £600 but got £69 off for using my Family Card so was worth signing up. Just lucky that things we fancied were included - now awaiting delivery tomorrow and the fun starts! will be back on here at the weekend for divorce advice!0

you can pre-empt the divorce by reading the instructions carefully,
getting OH to read the instructions THEN starting the assembly.
