Something sounds wrong here.
Swalec will not enter a property without a warrent. they have to go to court and get one.
They would use a locksmith to enter the property i have never heard of them breaking glass to get in.
They just about always fit a Quantum meter in to a domestic property unless unsafe to do so.
They will not remove a meter if it was going to cause damage they would just cap it or leave it.
They could and would only do any of the above if they are the supplier. Ok things go wrong but not very offen.
Contracts dont matter if they were already the supplier of the property when she moved in.
It sounds live bgas have taken the wrong supply.
call swalec ask to Speck to the Customer complaints manager or Site manager He/She will call your back.
I know it is a very last resort to get a warrant and does take sometime to do so this must have been going on for a while.
If you friend has gone to energywatch they would have reply to them with in the 10 day and would not remove a meter when there is an energywatch complaint ongoing.
Call and speck to one of the above persons i told you. if they dont help ask to be put though to the director of customer service.Filiss0 -
Hi,
Does the original poster have an insurance policy with legal assistance? If so, I would recommend using this option as they should be able to put some pressure on the correct people to get something sorted. At the very least, her buildings insurance company will be wanting to reclaim the money for criminal damage from SWALEC. They should be able to help her take SWALEC to court for the cost of the damage plus compensation for what has happened. At the end of the day a judges ruling will sort out all of the issues. SWALEC will not be able to go against this without lodging an appeal. If she shows the judge proof of when she bought the house and moved in, any attempt to charge her for gas before she moved in will be ruled as unlawful.
