Give them a call and cancel - within 48 hours, you'll get a call with a 50% price cut, and even if you don't you can cancel your cancellation at any time within the month0 -
I had Virgin for 12 months and the package was about £60 ish a month, but with the phone calls on it was between £80 and £100 a month and i couldn't wait to get rid.
The broadband was great though i have to say, it's the TV side of things that let both SKY and Virgin down as there are to many repeats, +1 channels, and HD channels, the HD channels show what you can watch in normal vision.
I paid a deposit of £100 with Virgin and it took me 2 months after my contract ended to get it back.
When the Virgin Engineer called to take the box back, he put it in a box and just threw it in the back of his van, he said people were leaving and going to Sky as they had better offers on but our equipment would be in someone else's house in a few days.
I'm with Sky at the moment for TV, BROADBAND, PHONE, but can't wait until September and then i'll just keep the Phone and Broadband.
I have a TV in the bedroom with built in Freeview which i watch while tucked up in bed.0 -

I tried to cancel my Virgin contract several times, but they gradually reduced the price to zero!
It won't last for ever though - my Freeview is now up and running and good to go
I didnt register online. I have attempted to get virgin for years but it kept saying online that we were not in a fibre optic area or something, however, complained about it and after their spotter contacted me by phone and said we could get it, quoted deals etc etc, after going through the initial process and paying the 50%, something online changed and whenyou type in my address now it says we are allowed all virgin services and shows the deals eligible for.... which is where the free installation is shown? Had I known that, I would never have paid the 50%... hence why I complained and apparently getting our money back....LBM Aug 08. £35,000:eek: Snowball DFW 05/2014

Sorry, but the OP has in my opinion taken some unnecessary flak. Whilst the behaviour of trolls on this part of the forum is infinitely work, it's still his/her choice to have Sky/Virgin TV - whilst watching TV all the time is no fun, it can be a cheap form of entertainment...important when you're dealing with all the stresses of a DMP.
Let's remember to treat people how we want to be treated - it's easy to take offense at stuff posted on the Internet.
Thanks for your kindhearted quote... I actually couldnt believe the flak I've got for this thread tbh. If we are entering into a long term solution to our debt problems, I really feel that whatever budget is set is sustainable, and whilst it is great that some people can do without a tv in this day and age, I think our family would find that quite difficult. I dont want to live an extravagent life, but simply to be settled and for our child to be as normal as possible. I actually thought my endeavours were quite good in that if we leave bt and combine tv, phone and broadband we could potentially save £55 pm, and after speaking to cccs this new figure seems well within their allocated budget for a family. Do appreciate your opinions folks though...everyone is different.LBM Aug 08. £35,000:eek: Snowball DFW 05/2014

Several years ago I had a similar problem with NTL (Virgin's predecessor) - I rented a flat in an old building conversion, and my neighbours above and on both sides all had NTL fibre-optics, but I was told it wasn't available at my address0 -

I'm sorry if you saw my comment as giving you flak, I assume you mean me as well. I see giving up TV in favour of getting rid of debt as plain common sense.
it is great that some people can do without a tv in this day and age, I think our family would find that quite difficult.
Have you asked them, and have you tried it. You might find you have a better quality of life.
but simply to be settled and for our child to be as normal as possible.
I am disturbed by this answer. Watching TV makes a child normal. I'm not sure how that works to be honest.

You could save a heck of a lot more if you dumped it. Think about all the other entertainments you could take part in as a family, there are lots of things you can do on the cheap. I have not had a TV for 15 years, and it's great. Lots of free time to do other things.
Do appreciate your opinions folks though...everyone is different.
Only trying to point out alternatives, and to be helpfull, not to give you flak. You do raise an important point, what is not important to some people is important to others. I read lots of S O A's on here, from people who are trying hard to reduce their debt, and in nearly all of them they are paying for the extra TV channels, and want to hang on to them come what may. I am of the old school, if I can't afford it I can't have it. Rent/mortgage first, food second, everything else is a luxury.
Sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread, I hope you find the right package.

We were paying about £62 a month for TV, BB and landline, I dropped down a package on tv and saved £7 only to be told new charges would make it go up again by £4. So.... we have ditched virgin tv and landline and only have broadband. We will now be paying £27.50. We sold some stuff and bought an aerial and as a result we now have all the channels we used to watch anyway and it won't cost us anymore.
We never used the phone, we use our mobiles. We pay £10.21 for those and get free BBM, 250 texts and 50 minutes, more than adequate for us.
Not everyone is the same and has the same needs but there are usually cheaper alternatives. People are just trying to help.0
