Private company PCN for incorrect parking

Hi,
Our work car park has a private company enforcing parking.
It is heavy over subscribed and some interesting parking is common place including parking on yellow lines, verges etc. I recently double parked with a colleague where the area next to it is wide and no other vehicle was impeded and part of my car was in the bay.
I got a ticket saying that
1) I was not in a designated space, well part of my car was and part not, if I want to be pedantic (and I do!) their text is rather all or nothing, there is nothing saying "not fully in a bay"!
2) I was parked in a restricted area, there were no signs or anything anywhere to say any of my vehicle was in a restricted place.
3) I was obstructing other users. The only person was my colleague who had agreed and was with me for the rest of the day.
They want £40, £15 if I cough up fast or £80 if they contact the DVLA for my details, although I guess they could get that from my permit application.
Stupidly I didn't take a picture.
Any advice?
Thanks

Yes,
1. ignore them and do not engage them in any way, shape or form. They have given you an unenforceable invoice and they have no power to fine you or issue penalties. You have a permit so they have suffered no loss because of how you parked.
2. Read the stickies at the top of the parking forum and educate yourself about these companies and the scams they perpetuate."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

So if they contact the DVLA at a cost of £2.50 they want an additional £40 , a £37.50 profit pmsl, clearly and utterly a penalty that they in fact admit in writing. It is by the way illegal for a private company to issue a penalty without acting for a council, which they are not!
Advice - IGNORE.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
When you have finished following the excellent advice given to you above, carry on the good work by following my advice:
IGNORE THEM COMPLETELY.0 -
Agreed, it really is easy to ignore this scam.
1. Read the sticky thread, 'PPC letters & threats'. If unsure how to see the forum index (stickies at the top) see my signature.
2. Check out which standard letter templates will come next.
3. Watch the Watchdog clip on the same sticky thread.
4. Ignore the scammers and tell your friends/family about this con.
5. If there is a landlord or retailer onsite, write and COMPLAIN about this harassment, threaten to sue them for the actions of their agent (but do not 'appeal').PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
