Tier 1 Online on Ebay

Options
Hello,

Tier 1 Online sell refurbished PCs on Ebay, such as this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11173&item=6753110180&rd=1

Has anyone had any dealings with them? Is their stuff any good? Is there a catch, as their goods seem to be ludicrously cheap?!

Any input glady received!

My company deals with Tier One, some of our major customers sell old kit on to them. Not had any dealings from the buying side of things but they have a good reputation when it comes to clearing old kit from my customers.

Ok, that's good to know. A bit more reassuring at any rate. I couldn't believe the prices when I saw them...even for refurbished stock!

Hmm, don't take paypal and will only accept their own form of payment. Oh, and don't forget to add VAT on top.

Their end prices don't look that cheap either.

Oh, and what's all the strange language repeated over and over in each of the boxes in the 'me ' page about?

    Soo...(probably too paranoid for ebay!)

It looks like Latin but it's actually a "non-language" used as a filler by typesetters when planning layouts etc. I guess they haven't yet finished off the webpage

I bought a refurbished laptop from them in October. The service was very good and the laptop was excellent value. They seem to have changed their system for payment, though - I'm sure I used paypal.

  • I certainly wouldn't blame any seller who refused to take PayPal. After what I've read on these forums (or fora, if we're into Latin on this thread) NOT accepting PayPal looks like a good idea.

This company seem OK in that they are willing to accept any credit/debit cards directly. Look on the bright side - perhaps their refusal to deal with PayPal is a first strike against PayPal's behaviour ...... something that seems long overdue.

I agree!!! ... and if it's a company that is used to handling payments anyway why on earth should they choose to use Paypal in preference to their own system?

How much did you end up paying in the end?

Just checked my receipt - I didn't use paypay after all. Doh!

I paid £290 including postage, insurance and VAT, for a Dell Latitude PIII 650.

Dell are doing brand new laptops 2.4Ghz for £399 including VAT and delivery. Can usually get even more off using vouchers posted across the board.
