Badger Protection League - Urgent!

Did you know ??
The shooting of badgers is to be allowed under licence in West Somerset (288 sq kms ) and West Gloucestershire/ Forest of Dean (331 sq kms) for 6 weeks in August/ September. This will commence over the whole of these areas on the same night - affecting people walking, fishing or enjoying the countryside. Hundreds of badgers are likely to be killed or maimed.
If you live in these areas, please contact Natural England by February 23rd to object. Email [EMAIL="BTB@naturalengland.org.uk"]BTB@naturalengland.org.uk[/EMAIL] or visit www.naturalengland.org.uk
Even after this date - letters to Natural England, your own M.P., Jim Paice ( Agriculture Minister) or David Cameron ( Prime Minister) will make a difference.

Join the petition against the killing of badgers on www.38degrees.org.uk
Pass this email to all of your contacts - let people know this is happening
If you were thinking of coming on holiday to the South West, you may feel that you could write to the Tourism Office stating that you will not be coming to the South West if killing of badgers takes place

What are your objections to them being culled? You haven't really been clear on that in the blurb above

I commented to a friend (a non-farmer who lives in a farming area of North Wales) that there seemed to be loads more dead badgers by roadsides these days. He'd been told by farmers that since they were banned from shooting badgers, many were still doing so but leaving bodies by roads so they were hit by cars to hide the truth.
I don't know enough about the subject to say I'm pro or anti the proposal but to say it will affect people walking, fishing or enjoying the countryside may be a bit of an exageration as the shooting will take place at night
