Warrenty cover

My car has a five year warrenty, I have not had it serviced for a couple of years, does this void the warrenty as i have a problem with it now and am worried the garage might refuse to repair it as a couple of the stamps are missing from the book.

  • I would say yes.

It usually requires the car to be serviced to schedule for warranties.
    I have a cunning plan!

If it has not been serviced in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations your warranty will be void. Have a look in the handbook to check what the servicing intervals are, some vehicles have condition based servicing which is mileage as opposed to time dependant. I guess your car is a Hyundai?
  • Yes its a second hand hyundai santa fe. The fuel line split and the engine cut out.I suppose I could plead ignorance and just pay the repair bill. Mind you the car wont start and it would need picking up to tow it to the Hyundai service garage and i presume i would have to pay the towing fee. Maybe I should just get a mobile mechanic to repair it?

See what the dealer says. If the problem had been something that could be aggravated by lack of servicing then I'd say you were on your own, but a split fuel line isn't something that a service would ever have any effect on, so you've nothing to lose by trying to get a warranty repair.
