How would you split your working hours?

Hi
if you were working 16 hours and could choose how to split those hours, would you either
A- work 2 days of 8 hours
or
B- work 4 days of 4 hours?
Or would you choose to split it another way?

Personally, 2 x 8 hours. This would cut down on things like travel costs and parking, as well as giving the obvious advantage of having 5 days per week off work. However, I don't have children or anything, so don't have any particular reason for needing to be at home at prescribed times.======================================

I work 16 hours a week and I do 3 days at 5 hours 20 minutes a day.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

The 2x8 and if I could choose the days too they'd be Wednesday and Thursday."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0

I would do two days of 8 hrs as like said cheaper travel, daily costs, maybe then you can do a 2nd job for 16 hours (if you were looking) or use the time to another advantage0 -
It would really depend on the other commitments you have outside of work. Do you have children to collect from school? Is it far to travel to?0

I do 3 hrs 42 every day 18.5 in total, bit strange but not too far to go from home and free parking. I do find being in every day, I can see whats going on and dont miss much. when i did 2 1/2 days i found i spent a few hours just catching up with what my job share person had done.0

Because the four of us look after our ill mum, and have adjusted our hours accordingly, I work three weeks on and one week off. It is absolutely brilliant. I know it's not helping OP, but 2x8 is what I would do personally, if I could afford that!
On certain of my "weeks off" during the year, because Mum is having tests in Hospital, or someone else does extra, I can toddle off somewhere warm.
The reduction in pay is more than taken care of by the reduction in work costs.
It costs money to go to work!"
OK, I am lucky my employer has a work life balance policy too.
Best of luck OP.0 -
It's all down to personal preference. I have chosen to work half time but the job I got was 5 half days and quite honestly if I'm working a late shift I feel as though it's all day as I'm waiting in the morning to go to work and don't do anything much with the time. I would much rather do two or even three days and have the other days completely off. But that's just me.0

I have worked part time hours for several years. I have always preferred to do my hours as full working days rather than work shorter hours over more days. This did mean that I had to pay for childcare when the kids were small but I also had time to go to playgroup, school assemblies etc if they were on my non working days. I have also preferred to do my working days together so I have a clear division between my working week and my 'home'week.0
