How would you split your working hours?

It really depends on your personal circumstaances.
I currently work from home and when I first started it was an eye-opener how much more income I had when I wasn't shelling out for fares, lunches, coffees etc.
The kind of things I'd be looking at is -when those hours are-for example -first thought is 2 x 8 hours means only two days of fares-however if the shorter days start later there may be an advantage if you can use off peak fares (after 9 or 9.30) or cheaper parking.
If it's the kind of job you need "different" clothes for -if you only appear in an office two days a week you need a much smaller "office wardrobe" than if you are working 4 days .
If you want extra hours which offers the best chance-for some companies it may be offering to work extra on short days -for others full days might be offered to cover staff illness/holidays. Also-on a 4 hour shift -if most people work a full day -would there be more pressure to stay on if it's busy (possibly even expected) ?
How far is your commute ? Remember travelling time to and from work is unpaid work. If it's half an hour to work that's an hour per shift-so you are looking at "wasting" 2 hours versus 4 each week.
One size doesn't fit all but if you have a choice there can be some big advantages depending on what works for you.
For me-with no school run to worry about-I'd far rather pack the hours into fewer days and free up whole days for other things.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
i wouldnt fit the hours into 2 days myself to save on bus fares simply because if it was only 16 hours a week then i would only go for jobs with that number of hours if they were within a reasonable walking distance(upto an hour).0
