DVD-VOB files

Hi,

I have two DVD's (DVD-R) which I've burned VOB files onto in order to play in a regular DVD player.
Both discs get to around 55 mins in, and then stop playing in the DVD player
The weird thing is, when I play them on my PC, the disc plays all the way to to the end.
Any ideas?

Here's a wild guess: Is it possible that the DVD drive in the PC supports Dual Layer and the DVD player does not?

Maybe the discs are not compatible for your standalone dvd player but are ok for your PC.
Is there any way you could try them in a different dvd player?

Maybe you can have a try for a VOB to DVD Burner.
It will be good for you to Make you VOB files to regular DVD then be played for a DVD Player.

More than VOB files are needed for a "standalone" dvd.

You don't mention in your post if (in addition to VOB files ) you also burnt the correct IFO files on the disc.

If you have just burned VOB files onto the DVD, you might have problems playing them on standalone DVD players.

You can use software such as imgburn which will convert the VOB files into a properly authored DVD.
  • Thanks for all your replies.

The DVD's I use are branded DVD-R. I've used many before with no issues like this. They are not DL, and normally play fine in my DVD player.
I use WINXDVD to convert AVI to VOB and simply burn using either same program.
I still don't understand how it plays in full on my PC but only an hour or so in DVD player?
I'll try again and see what happens

If you're burning the VOBs, that could well be the problem. Have you tried burning an authored DVD as suggested?
  • try using convertxtodvd,,, does it all for you.
