Credit or Debit Card for Flight tickets?

I've seen some similar threads and I realise the protection offered when using a credit card for flight tickets.........but at 2% charge for doing so I am being charged an extra £60 for two tickets to Australia. I have the money so should I use my debit card with no protection? I suppose I'm asking for an alternative view or is it worth £60 for the protection a credit card brings!

I think £60 is worth it for the extra protection you'll get. I'd use a credit card.
  • I suppose one obvious question is which airline(s)? Some are probably safer than others...

Then, what about insurance? Depending what insurance you have/get, you might find that a CC doesn't offer any additional protection.

But do you also realise that, depending on who 'takes your money', you may not get any additional protection (in the form of section 75).

In such a case it would be £60 wasted.
  • Thanks Guys

Singapore Airlines or Quantas...........I guess neither are small fry but you never know! I have a pretty strong insurance pack with Virgin and whilst it wiould cover cancelation/illness etc does it give protection to the payment of the tickests?
  • Qantas were/ are in financial difficulties - whether the Aussie government would let them go to the wall is anybody's guess.
