Just as you think it can't get worse...

having spent months battling with Jack (who incidentally is still doing well) poor old Bob has started wheezing :(

I'm not massively concerned at the moment, he's an 11 and a half year old Westie and I was told at his last check up he sounded a bit rattly but as he had no other symptoms the vet discounted anything major and put it down to his age, telling me older westies do tend to rattle a bit. Now he's been wheezing on and off loudly for the day and my first thought was Westie lung.

Now, as any regular reader of my posts knows Bob is the laziest westie in the world so reading symptoms of lethargy I really couldn't tell the difference. He's eating well, is as lively as ever (not very!) and doesn't seem much different to usual other than this wheeze/cough.

He ate a biscuit bone the other night, one he's not had before, so for the moment I'm giving him a few spoons of honey and hoping he just scratched his throat a bit gutsing his bone down. If he's still wheezy after the weekend then he's going to have to go and see the vet :( Ive had his chops open and a torch down his throat and cant see anything stuck or inflamed.

I'm now beginning to panic, how on earth do I cope with 2 sick old men? Argghhhhhhh

Just wanted a moan :o

Fingers crossed Bob's just having a few "off days" and is OK by the weekend but, if not, you will cope - we always do ....

They give us so much worry at times, don't they? Could he have swallowed a squeaky from a toy? My dog Jack did that when he was a pup, took me ages to work out where the wheezy noise was coming from. The following day he passed the squeaky - I thought it was a little round worm or something at first - and the wheezy sound had stopped.

Or it might just be a doggy cold. Whatever it is, you're right to get him to the vet if it's not cleared up after the weekend.

    Hope he's ok.

No, he doesnt have squeaky toys really, far too much trouble and hard work for him lol

He doesn't seem as bad this evening so I'm hoping it is just a bit of a doggy cough/sore throat. I'll have to see how it pans out.

One of those days all round really, just fought a long, hard battle to get his tablets in him too :(

He's still a little wheezy but he's very very lively and eating well. The wheeze wasn't as bad this morning, I gave him a big tablespoon of treacle last night hoping to coat his throat a bit, whether it was that or not I dont know.

I've noticed it more if he's sniffing, he's currently sniffing me to bits because I've been with my Sis in Laws dog earlier lol. Hopefully it is going to be just a cold/cough. Fingers crossed.

Jack on the otherhand is in his element! We all went to Pizza Hut for lunch as a treat for the kids and the nice waitress gave me a box full of crusts to hide Jack's pills in. Needless to say his tablets have never vanished quite so quickly lol

Made up things are looking better for both of them.

And that's one thing I wouldn't have thought of for hiding Jack's pills...pizza!! He must be one very happy little fella!
