Can you use NCB from two cars owned concurrently on one if one is sold?

We're currently with Admiral and have two cars both insured in my name on a multi car policy. I currently have a year's NCB on each car although renewal is only a few months away and I haven't made any claims yet (touches wood). We're thinking of selling the second car as neither of us commutes to work anymore (the second car's a congestion free car that my fianc!e used to commute with but has since switched jobs so now gets the tube to work).
If we sell and keep the policy as it is until renewal then I'd have 2 years NCB on both cars. We could cancel the insurance on the second car but it doesn't cost *that* much to insure away so might be worth keeping for the extra year's NCB. When looking for a renewal quote, could I use all 4 years on our one remaining car or would the 2 years on the second car evaporate into the ether?

You cannot combine them, so you will have one 2 years that you can use on the single vehicle policy and one 1 or 2 years that you can use in the future should you chose to go back to two vehicles. Note NCD only stays valid for 2 years with most insurers and 3 with a small minority0

Please share the details of this "small minority" who accept 3 year old NCD with us.0
