I have an HP M7425 with Lightscribe DVD/CD Writer disc drive. Using Windows XP media centre edition. Today this drive suddenly stopped working and in My Computer there isno sign of the drive icon, which was drive E. Also looked in System information and Administrative Tools, Device Manager, Disk Drives and there is nosign of the drive there. When I put a disc in the light comes on but nothing loads up.
Anybody ideas what has happened.

Turn the pc off and unplug from the wall, try reseating or replacing the ribbon cable that connects to the cd drive. If you have 2 ribbon cables i.e 1 to the hard drive and 1 to the cd drive, try swapping them over.0

Well I tried reseating the ribbon cable but still no joy. If the ribbon needs replacing I will go back to Comet where I purchased the PC from as it is still under 12 months guarantee.Regards
