EDF have one expert that can calculate a manual bill!

Hi all,
Just thought I would share my experience of EDF energy.
I transferred to them in October after EOn wanted to up my bills and EDF came out cheapest. The long and the short is that they have messed up my first bill which means that they have calculated my bill on the wrong tarrif. I notified them of this and after a bit of a tussle they finally agreed they were at fault and needed to recalculate the bill. I am still waiting and apparently it can't be done until Monday when their 'expert' is back from holiday. Apparently they only have one person clever enough to calculate a bill manually! Which makes you wonder how we mere mortals are supposed to check our bills are correct doesn't it?:rotfl:

  • I feel your pain.

I changed my EDF tariff back in July. They came and read the meter then so they knew exactly what the reading was. But in August they sent me a grossly (nearly double the units) over-estimated bill.

I queried this at the time and was told to pay but that everything would sort itself out in the next bill. Being stupid this is what I did.

    I am still waiting.

The next bill still displayed the wrong units, as did the next. They now have the right units but still have not sent me a corrected bill, although they have continue to send me requests for payment. On calling them, yet again, I was told that it would take some time to sort out.

They've had six flippin' months, how much longer do they need?

I wish you good luck getting your bill recalculated

Thanks for your story - I can't say it is inspiring confidence - not that I had much of that in the first place! What is so annoying is that if they find it so hard to work out a bill - how on earth does anyone expect an ordinary person to do it? It makes you wonder how many elderly and non brain surgeon type people they have ripped off? Its time the regulator did something about it.
Good luck with your bill too - I think we both will need to keep up the harrassment until we get a result-I keep a note of how much I have to contact them with a view to insisting they pay compensation for my call costs - watch this space!
