can paypal take money from a/c without permission?

  • Cheers Soolin & Co, I didn't think they could take money without your permission. I'm in the middle of a paypal dispute (not as described) just now and my paypal balance is in the negative. My bank a/c is already overdrawn and I don't want paypal dipping in without any notice and taking another £90.

I don't want to refund my buyer because they're changing their story every 5 minutes as to whats wrong with the item; one second its not as described, now they say its damaged too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see who paypal decide in favour of (gee whiz that'll be a hard one?!).

hamster..an item not as described complaint could go either way. paypal are not consistent with what they decide.

If your buyer does win the dispute they will have to return the item tracked at their own cost.

  • I learned the hard way after been ripped off for £140 using paypal. Somebody used Buy-It-Now from a hacked account and I shipped it happily off to the address in the account. 2 weeks later money was returned (I'd already spent it) so went -£140 in account. Wasn't covered under sellers protection as I didn't send it with tracking option !! Stuffed really, but thought TOUGH LUCK mate, I've got the money and never using paypal again. Anyway about 2 months later got an email saying I had 7 days to clear balance or they were passing it on to Debt Collectors. I Paid up at this point.

I still use Paypal now as it's the easiest way to collect money. But all I will say is follow their Sellers and Buyers protection T&Cs 100% to the letter and you should be fine.

I even used it to my advantage before Xmas with non delivery of an Ipod (rip off merchant) and got a refund although it does take a few weeks.
  • So if a dispute is found in the buyers favour will they refund the buyer from a negative seller's balance then chase the seller for it or does the buyer have to claim their money back from the credit card co THEN paypal suddenly start giving a stuff and go after the seller?

Am asking this as both a buyer and a seller?
