Toshiba RD100KB help

Hello.

After much thought i have replaced my old trusty Liteon dvd/hdd recorder with a freeview dvd/hdd recorder.
I had a thread going in here asking for advice on upgrading.
I did get a Lg 498h 2 weeks ago but on day 2 it played up so it went back.
Yesterday i got the Toshiba unit.
The manual is to say the least not very helpful.
I need help with 3 things;
1. Is i able to copy stuff from usb stick onto the hard drive. I have played stuff from the usb to see if it works.
2. I download tv programmes from thebox.bz which is all british tv if i miss them. Is it possible to copy from computer onto dvd and then copy onto the rd100 hard drive. I have put some progs onto dvd and they playback but cant get them to copy/dubbing to the hard drive.
3. I use an aerial lead from sky box downstairs which i know is analogue into the dvd/hdd unit. Can i rename this channel as SKY as it only displays as "1" onscreen. The manual only says you can only move or skip channel.

The manual is like the pages where printed and then thrown in the air and put together in any order.

Thanks for any help given.

Vince.

I tried for an hour today trying to copy stuff from hdd to dvd and the other way round but no good.
I tried different types of media with no luck.
If nobody has any ideas on these problems has anybody got a list of forum sites or websites that maybe of help to me as i dont want to it is broken or has an issue when it may well be i am not doing things right.

From a quick look at the manual (which is not that bad - you should see some of the Chinglish ones) it seems there is no menu option to dub USB to HDD. If no menu option, you can't do it, other than indirectly as you've been trying with DVD.

Re: copying from DVD - are you sure that the files you are trying to copy are in a format that the unit can play? If not then it probably won't recognise them, and so won't offer the option to copy them.

    Thanks fwor.

The files on the dvd are .avi files and i can play them from the dvd. They were downloaded and copied from computer onto dvd and they are the same files that i copied to usb which also play.
