How to choose the best Estate Agent

So all these comments about ALL agents are based on what; a short time spent in one agency?

Two actually one of which was actually our family run business (my dad is director) which has been established for over 20 years so estate agency has been something I have grew up with. When I was made redundant I ended up working there. I now just do the accounts. I won´t defend estate agents even if my dad, mother, one of my sisters and brother are all estate agents!!

A few years later I worked with another estate agent which is where I ended up leaving not long after. I´m an honest person and won´t lie to people for the sake of keeping a sale, buying a house is a massive commitment and estate agents don´t see that, all they care about it targets and pound signs.

My knowledge has come not just from actually working for one (however short that time) but actually seeing one set up from scratch and being a part of that from a young age.

The point made by sonastin sums up what I was trying to say completely.

Googler seriously, put more work into selling houses instead of searching through my posts trying to prove your nonsensical point. It actually proves the kind of people estate agents are when they´re wasting time on internet forums on a weekday.
:j Comping wins: Gig tickets, Lovemydog tag, Country Livings Christmas fair tickets

Freebies: Redken hair product, Cow teddy, Pebble grey illuminated compact mirror.

You really think that a closing paragraph of mild forum-baiting adds up to that...?

Googler you should really tell people you are an estate agent so they understand the context of your reply.

To be fair to Googler, it is pretty obvious from his desperate defence of the "profession" that he is an estate agent.

That's quite worrying because I was being a smart-!!!!!! You might as well say all cars are EXACTLY the same because they move you from A to B. So you shouldn't pay a penny more for a perfect top-of-the-range aston martin that you pay for an unreliable 30 year old robin reliant.

You shouldn't necessarily believe an EA who says they charge more because they deliver more but if, through independent research, you can identify that they do indeed offer a better service then it is worth paying for that better service. In my experience though, the best service has come from the EA who charges an average market rate.
