duo core 2 energy efficient

I read somewhere that duo core 2 processors are energy efficient and saves up to 40%. Does that mean I will use less power than and ordinary PC and save on my electrictrity bill?

  • I think this depends on the Watts of the PSU.

Graphic cards use a lot of energy as well.

Yes the Core 2 Duos tend to be more efficient. In saying that a new PC compared with one from 3 years ago will probably still use about the same amount of power as graphics cards now use more power.

Out of interest does it make a difference whether the graphics card is shared (like my laptop which has 128 MB shared graphics) or separate? :o
  • Seperate will be more energy.

Saying that though that doesn't mean its not energy efficient
