Can anyone recommend a green roof system?

We finally have the money to get our extension done :T so am now trying to plan the budget.

Part of doing the extension is to make our current flat roof above the kitchen into a green roof.

I've found a company called Enviromat which seem reasonable, but would like some recommendations.

We are quite good at DIYing and my hubby is very good at carpentry, so we will be making the roof stronger by adding joists in ourselves, and will do as much of it as we can.

They need weeding. Also ensure that cats can't get onto it, otherwise it will end up as a giant arial litter tray.

Check the GRO CODE on recommended soil substrates and depths. I found some green roof materials sellers trying to sell just a sedum turf and telling me that was all I needed. It lasted until the summer and then died.
Got some good advice from bbs green roof consultants who ended fixing it with the appropriate layers, drainage etc.

In my opinion there's a lot of bad info out there because it unregulated.
